Scones or Donuts

3 Tbs. yeast dissolved in
½ cup warm water
2 cups milk, warmed in microwave
2 cups flour
1 rounded tsp. salt
½ cup sugar
½ cup shortening
3 eggs
4 more cups flour

Mix first eight ingredients together and beat for three minutes.  Add 4 cups of flour and mix well.  The dough will be quite soft.  Chill dough for 30 minutes.  Heat 1 inch vegetable oil to 375 in  electric fry pan.  Roll out.  Cut into squares with a pizza cutter for scones, or with a donut cutter for donuts.  Fry until light brown on both sides, turning only once.  Let drain on several layers of paper towels.  Make a thin glaze of melted butter, powdered sugar, and milk in a large bowl.  Thread several donuts onto the handle of a wooden spoon, and balance on rim of the bowl.  Spoon glaze over donuts, turning to get all sides.
